No person shall, except as permitted under laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, fire or discharge any weapon, gun, rifle, shotgun, pistol, bow, slingshot or firearm (including air, spring, or hydraulically operated) within the Township of Hanover, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, except as provided in this chapter.

The Board of Supervisors may, in its sole and absolute discretion, grant a permit for the discharging and firing of weapons within the Township, provided, however, that said permit shall be issued only where the discharge and firing of weapons is limited to target practice and shooting and further provided that the Board of Supervisors has determined that such discharge and firing of weapons will not endanger the health, safety and welfare of the community.

The provisions of this chapter shall be enforced by action brought before a District Justice in the same manner provided for the enforcement of summary offenses under the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure. Any person who violates or permits the violation of this chapter shall, upon conviction in a summary proceeding, be punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000. Each day or portion thereof that such violation continues or is permitted to continue shall constitute a separate offense. Each section of this chapter that is violated shall also constitute a separate offense.
