The provisions of this article shall apply to all buildings and structures situate within the City of Rye, and the owner or owners thereof shall be responsible for complying with same.
All electrical wiring, fixtures and equipment shall be installed and maintained in accordance with nationally recognized safe practice. Compliance with the applicable provisions of the standards of the National Board of Fire Underwriters, known as the "National Electrical Code," shall be deemed prima facie evidence of compliance with nationally recognized safe practice.
Any electrical wiring, fixture, equipment or installation which on the effective date of this chapter has not been installed, has not been manufactured or is not being maintained in accordance with nationally recognized safe practice shall be so repaired, remade, reinstalled, removed, replaced or so maintained thereafter as to comply with nationally recognized safe practice.
