A Police Department is hereby confirmed and reestablished in
and for the Borough of Baldwin. The Chief of Police shall be the chief
executive of the Police Department. He shall, under the direction
of the Mayor, be in charge of the police force and have supervision
over its members in the exercise of their powers, duties and responsibilities.

There is hereby established in the Department of Police of the
Borough of Baldwin the following divisions: the General Police Division;
the Juvenile Division; the Narcotics Division; and the Traffic Division.
The aforesaid divisions shall be subordinate to the Chief of Police.
The classifications established by the Borough Council of the Borough
of Baldwin, as amended by this section, shall be Deputy Chief of Police,
Sergeant, Patrolman and Juvenile Officer. The number of persons to
serve in each of said subordinate classifications and the compensation
of each shall be determined by the Borough Council of the Borough
of Baldwin from time to time.
Nothing contained herein shall affect the right of the Mayor
to appoint special policemen during an emergency in which the safety
and welfare of the Borough and the public is endangered.
