All positions within the Town service shall
be grouped into appropriate classes by the Personnel Director. The
allocation of a position to a class shall be determined by the duties
and responsibilities of the position so that those requiring substantially
the same experience, knowledge and ability shall be grouped together.
The Classification Plan shall be an inventory
of competitive positions in the municipal organization grouped into
classes in which the duties, responsibilities and level of work difficulty
are similar. Each classification shall be characterized by:
C. Description of the work performed in the position.
D. Minimum or desirable qualifications.
E. Any other information deemed necessary or desirable
by the Personnel Director.
The Classification Plan shall be used as follows:
A. For setting and maintaining equitable compensation
rates.
B. As a basis for action regarding hiring and recruiting.
C. As a basis for action in transfers and promotions.
D. As a guide for personnel matters requiring an accurate
knowledge of various positions in the municipal organization.
