The Township shall furnish to each probationary
patrolman one complete set of uniform clothing and equipment in accordance
with the requirements established by the Chief. All such clothing
and equipment shall be and remain the property of the Township until
such time as the probationary patrolman shall be appointed and become
a regular patrolman of the Department.
Regular members of the Department shall be entitled
to receive a sum not in excess of $290 per annum to assist in providing
for and maintaining the necessary uniform clothing.
All members of the Department shall receive
such personal equipment as may be authorized under this chapter and
the rules and regulations or as directed by the Chief. They shall
be responsible for the safekeeping, care, maintenance, serviceable
condition and proper use of such equipment. Personal equipment shall
not be altered or defaced in any manner.
All probationary patrolmen and uniformed members
of the Department, upon reporting for duty and while on duty, shall
wear the uniforms prescribed in the rules and regulations and shall
at all times keep the same clean and in a state of good repair. No
member of the Department shall wear the uniform or any part of it
while not on duty.
Personal equipment shall be carried on the person
of the member while on duty as prescribed by the rules and regulations.
Every member of the Department off duty and not on leave shall carry
his or her badge, revolver, whistle and signal box key at all times
unless otherwise directed by the Chief.
In the event that the employment of a probationary
patrolman shall terminate or be terminated for any reason prior to
his or her appointment and his or her acceptance of such appointment
as a regular patrolman of the Department, all of his or her uniform
clothing and equipment shall be immediately surrendered to the Chief
by such probationary patrolman. All articles of equipment issued to
any member of the Department shall be returned to the Department upon
the expiration of service due to discharge, retirement, death or resignation.
