Unless otherwise expressly stated in the National Electrical Code (NEC), the following words and terms, whenever used in this chapter, shall, respectively, be deemed to refer to, mean and include that hereinafter stated:
APPROVEDApproved by the Electrical Inspector.
BUILDINGA building, structure, pole, fence, highway or any open space within, outside or on which there is any electrical installation.
DWELLINGA building designed or used exclusively as the living quarters for one or more persons.
DWELLING UNITA dwelling or portion thereof providing complete living facilities for one family.
ELECTRICAL INSPECTORThe duly appointed officer of the Village of Hempstead (or any duly appointed deputy of said officer) charged with making inspections necessary to enforce this chapter.
LICENSEA master electrician's license issued by the Mayor and countersigned by the Village Clerk of the Village of Hempstead.
LICENSE BOARDThe Electrical License Board of the Village of Hempstead.
MASTER ELECTRICIANAn individual, member of a partnership, association or corporation duly qualified and licensed by the Village to engage in installing, altering or repairing electrical wiring, apparatus, fittings, appliances or equipment for light, heat or power in or on a building.
OUTLET/RECEPTACLEA point or place on the wiring system at which current is taken to supply or control fixtures, lamps, heaters, motors and current-consuming equipment generally, and all switch outlets.
OWNERThe owner, tenant, lessee, consumer or occupant, or the duly appointed agent of same, of a building, as herein defined, in which there are electrical installations.
VILLAGEThe Incorporated Village of Hempstead.
