Pursuant to the authority granted to the Board
of Trustees by § 22 of the Municipal Home Rule Law of the
State of New York, the provisions of Subdivision 5 of § 3
of the Public Officers Law of the State of New York, in effect on
the effective date of this article, are hereby superseded to the extent
such provisions are inconsistent herewith.

Each person holding the office of Chief, First
Assistant Chief or Second Assistant Chief of the Fire Department of
the Village of New Paltz shall be a resident of the Village or of
the Town of New Paltz outside the municipal boundaries of the Village
and no more than one mile from the municipal boundaries of the Town
of New Paltz for the duration of the term for which he was appointed.
