The Borough of New Salem hereby authorizes the
compensation of the members of the Planning Commission (excepting
elected or appointed officers or employees of the municipality).
The members of the Planning Commission who are
permitted to be compensated shall receive compensation at a rate to
be fixed from time to time by Borough Council. Such compensation shall
not exceed the amount of compensation paid to the members of Council.
Council shall determine and establish the initial rate of compensation
immediately after the enactment of this article, and the rate so established
shall remain in effect until modified by Council. Without exception,
members of the Planning Commission may be reimbursed for necessary
and reasonable expenses. However, elected or appointed officers or
employees of the municipality shall not, by reason of membership thereon,
forfeit the right to exercise the powers, perform the duties or receive
the compensations of the municipal offices held by them during such
membership.
