The following provisions of this chapter are hereby adopted as the Sanitary
Code of the Town of Farmington.
The following definitions shall apply in the interpretation and enforcement
of this chapter:
DWELLING
Any building which is wholly or partly used or arranged or designed
to be used for living or sleeping by human occupants.
DWELLING UNIT
Any room or group of rooms located within a dwelling and forming
a single habitable unit, with facilities which are used, arranged or designed
to be occupied for living, sleeping, cooking and eating.
OWNER
Any person having title to or control of property either as principal
or agent.
ROOMING HOUSE
Any dwelling or that part of any dwelling containing one or more
rooming units in which space is let by the owner or operator to three or more
persons who are not the husband or wife, son or daughter, mother or father
or sister or brother of the owner or operator.
ROOMING UNIT
Any room or group of rooms forming a single habitable unit used or
intended to be used for living and sleeping but not for cooking or eating
purposes.
TOWN
The Town of Farmington, Connecticut.
The provisions of this chapter shall apply throughout the geographical
limits of the Town of Farmington.

The provisions of the Public Health Code of the State of Connecticut,
as amended, relating to matters not specifically provided for hereunder are
adopted and incorporated herein by this specific reference and made a part
hereof. Three copies of the Public Health Code of the State of Connecticut
shall be filed for public examination at the office of the Town Clerk, Town
of Farmington, for 30 days before the passage of this chapter. In the interpretation
and application of the provisions of this chapter, such provisions shall be
held to be minimum requirements adopted for the promotion of the public health
and safety. Whenever the requirements of this chapter are at variance with
the requirements of the Public Health Code of the State of Connecticut, the
most restrictive or that imposing the highest standards shall govern. When
amendments or additions to the Public Health Code of the State of Connecticut
are adopted, such amendments shall automatically become a part of the Sanitary
Code of the Town of Farmington 60 days after adoption and publication by the
Commissioner of Health Services.

The FVHD shall have the power and duty to enforce this chapter.
