Peddling, soliciting and canvassing — See Ch. 240.
It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, offer for sale, attempt to sell, exhibit, give away, to possess with intent to sell or give away, or in any way furnish or attempt to furnish to any person any illustrated "comic" book, magazine or other publication of an obscene nature.
It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, offer for sale, attempt to sell, exhibit, give away, keep in his possession with intent to sell or give away, or in any way furnish or attempt to furnish to any child under the age of 18 years any "comic" book, magazine or other publication of like nature which, read as a whole, is concerned with an account of crime and which depicts from the use of drawings the following crimes as the same may be defined in the Revised Statutes of New Jersey:

Administering poisonous and injurious potions.
B. 
Atrocious assault and battery.
C. 
Arson and other willful burning.
D. 
Assault in attempting burglary.
E. 
Assault with intent to maim or disfigure.
F. 
Assault with intent to commit rape.
G. 
Assault with intent to commit robbery.
H. 
Assault with intent to kill.
I. 
Burglary.
J. 
False judgment.
K. 
False imprisonment.
L. 
Kidnapping and abductions.
M. 
Maiming or disfiguring.
N. 
Malicious mischief.
O. 
Mob violence.
P. 
Murder.
Q. 
Rape.
R. 
Robbery.
S. 
Theft.
T. 
Threatening or attempting to kidnap.
U. 
Conspiracy to commit any of the foregoing offenses.
It shall be unlawful for any person without just cause to utter or expose to the view of another or possess with intent to utter or expose to the view of another or to sell any obscene or indecent book, pamphlet, picture or other representation, however made, or in any way to advertise the same in any manner whether by recommendation, against its use to give any information how or where any of the same may be had, seen, bought or sold.
This chapter shall not be construed to apply to those acts of crime which are a part of the ordinary and general dissemination of news, nor to such drawings and photographs as are used to illustrate such acts.
This chapter shall not be construed to apply to legitimate, illustrated, historical acts or crimes.
Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine of not more than $200 for each offense, or shall be imprisoned in the county jail for not exceeding 90 days, or both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the Magistrate.
