The Board of Trustees of the Village of Mamaroneck finds that the productivity,
creativity and efficiency of village employees will be advanced by the creation
of a mechanism for merit review and award for village employees. It is further
found that private employers often reward exceptional service with a commendation,
bonus, time off or other appropriate incentive, and the village desires to
provide such individual incentive and recognition for exceptional service
as provided and allowed by law.
There is hereby created a Merit Award Board within the Village of Mamaroneck.
The Board shall consist of five (5) members, being the Mayor and the members
of the Board of Trustees. Said members shall serve while they hold elective
office in the village, and their terms shall be concurrent with the terms
of their elective offices.
Said Board shall have the authority to appoint such additional member
or members as it shall deem appropriate. Members of the Board who do not hold
elective office in the village shall serve for terms of two (2) years.
The Merit Award Board, once established, shall make and adopt rules
and regulations to provide for the rewarding of employees of the Village of
Mamaroneck for exceptional and distinguished service to the community.
