There is hereby created a Village Park Commission consisting of seven members who shall be Village residents and who shall be appointed by the Village President with confirmation by the Village Board. Two original appointees shall be appointed for a one-year term, two original appointees shall be appointed for a two-year term, and three shall be appointed for a three-year term; thereafter all appointments shall be for three-year terms; provided, however, that any vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as the original appointment. Members shall serve without compensation and until their successors are appointed. Terms shall commence in March.

The Commission shall elect its Chairman and Secretary at its first meeting in March, annually. It shall keep a record of its deliberations and recommendations to the Village Board.
A. 
The Park Commission shall direct its attention to the physical improvement, maintenance and use of all Village parks and facilities located therein. It shall use Shorewood's most current Village Board approved Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan as a guide for making recommendations. It shall make recommendations to the Village Board with regard to these matters. It shall work closely with the Shorewood Recreation Department, School District and community groups.

B. 
The Commission shall perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as it may be assigned by the Village Board.
The Commission shall meet at the call of any Village official, its Chairman, or any three members of the Commission, at such time as it is deemed necessary.
