A. No person or persons shall be permitted to engage
in or carry on the trade, business or calling of employing electricians
or as masters of electricians in the Village of Island Park unless
such person or persons shall have secured a license from the Village
Clerk of said Village upon the payment of a fee as set from time to
time by the Board of Trustees to cover the cost of the license. The
license will be issued to such person or persons by the Village Clerk.
B. The license may be renewed each year upon payment
of a renewal fee as set from time to time by the Board of Trustees,
along with all insurance and workers' compensation requirements.
Such license shall be issued to any electrician
or master electrician who shall exhibit to the Village Clerk a license
that has been issued by the Town of Hempstead for such person to operate
as an electrician in any area covered by said Town.
A. It shall be unlawful for any person, corporation or
copartnership in the Village of Island Park, unless said person, corporation
or copartnership shall have complied with the requirements of this
chapter, to hold himself or themselves out to the public as a master
electrician or employing electrician by the use of the word "electrician"
or words of similar import or meaning on signs, cards, stationery
or in any other manner whatsoever.
B. No person, corporation or copartnership registered
as provided in this chapter shall engage in the electrical business,
apply for, receive or make use of any permit granted to him by reason
of being so registered or holding such certificate for the benefit
of any person who is not so registered.
Any person or persons so employing electricians
or master electricians carrying on their trade, business or occupation
as an electrician in the Village of Island Park shall apply for such
license prior to any electrical work to be done in said Village. The
license fee, as set forth in this chapter, shall be for a period of
one year ending December 31 of each year thereof. Such license may
be cancelled by the Board of Trustees of this Village for a violation
of the rules and regulations for electrical installation as may be
adopted by said Board of Trustees for said Village or in force at
the time of the enactment of this chapter. Such cancellation shall
be upon notice to the licensee of not less than 10 days prior to any
hearing to be held by the Board of Trustees.
All electrical installations, alterations or
repairs hereafter made, installed, altered or repaired in the Village
of Island Park shall be in conformity with the Electrical Code of
the Town of Hempstead and any amendments thereto.
Insurance requirements are as follows:
A. General
liability: $100,000.
C. Property
damage: $50,000.
Any person committing an offense against this
article shall be guilty of a violation punishable by a fine not exceeding
$250 or by imprisonment for a period not exceeding 15 days for each
offense, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
