There shall be a Department of Parks and Recreation which shall
have jurisdiction over public parks, playgrounds, appurtenant structures
and property belonging to the Township with regard to maintenance,
use and expansion of such properties.
There shall be a Department of Parks and Recreation, the head
of which shall be the Director of Parks and Recreation. The Director
shall be a person qualified by education, training, and experience
to perform the duties of Director.
Under the supervision of the Municipal Administrator, the Director
shall:
A. Administer the work of the Department.
B. Supervise and maintain accurate departmental records and collect
and record data for payroll and inventory analysis and cost analysis.
C. Submit to the Township Committee or any members which have been designated,
monthly reports of the work of the Department and any recommendations
or reports requested.
D. Operate and oversee the public parks, playgrounds, appurtenant structures
and property belonging to the Township.
E. Coordinate and schedule the use of all recreational fields and facilities
and supervise the maintenance, use and expansion of Township recreational
facilities and fields, ballfields, tennis courts, parks, playgrounds
and other facilities as provided by the Township Committee.
F. Prepare a yearly budget for expense items and capital improvements
for the administration of such expenditures attendant to these duties.
G. Direct and supervise all Department of Parks and Recreation workers
employed by the Township.
H. Cooperate with the Police Department in maintaining order and preventing
illegal activities on the grounds.
I. Provide coordination for maintenance and cleaning for the public
parks, playgrounds and appurtenant structures and property belonging
to the Township, keeping the same in good order and condition.
