As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
PERSON
Includes any individual, partnership, association, corporation or
joint-stock company, their lessees, trustees or receivers appointed by any
court whatsoever.
STREET
Any street, avenue, park, parkway, highway or other public place.
TAXICAB
Any automobile or motorcar engaged in the business of carrying passengers
for hire which is held out, announced or advertised to operate or run or which
is operated or run over any of the streets or public highways of Logan Township,
and particularly accepts and discharges such persons as may offer themselves
for transportation from points or places to points or places within or without
the township.
Applications for owners' licenses and operators' licenses to operate
taxicabs within the township shall be filed with the Township Clerk on forms
supplied by the township in accordance with the procedures hereinafter set
forth.
The Logan Township Council shall not consider any application for an
owner's or operator's license unless and until the applicant shall first deposit
the license fee with the Township Clerk and file with the Township Clerk an
application requesting the appropriate license. Any application filed pursuant
to this chapter shall include the following:
A. Proof of insurance as set forth in §
141-6.
B. A power of attorney wherein and whereby the owner of
a taxicab shall appoint the Treasurer of the township his true and lawful
attorney for the purpose of acknowledging service of any process out of a
court of competent jurisdiction to be served against the insured by virtue
of the indemnity granted under the insurance policy.
The Township Council may establish additional rules and regulations
relative to this chapter by resolution.
For purposes of enforcing this chapter, the members and officers of
the Logan Township Police Department are designated as "enforcing officers."
The members and officers of the Logan Township Police Department shall have
the authority to enforce the provisions of this chapter and to make physical
inspections of vehicles in connection with any application for a license hereunder.

Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this
chapter shall be subject to a fine not exceeding $1,000 or imprisonment in
the county jail for a term not exceeding 90 days, in the discretion of the
Judge before whom such conviction shall be had. Each and every violation and
nonconformance of this chapter or each day that any provision of this chapter
shall have been violated shall be construed as a separate and distinct violation
thereof.
A license granted hereunder may be revoked by the Township Council,
after notice and hearing, whenever it shall appear that the person to whom
the license was granted has failed to furnish or keep in force the insurance
policy and power of attorney required by this chapter or to comply with any
terms or conditions imposed by the Township Council when the license is granted
or any law of this state.
Nothing in this chapter shall exempt any person owning or operating
any taxicab from complying with the laws relating to the ownership, registration
and operation of motor vehicles in this state.
No license issued under this chapter is transferable, and the holder
of the license shall be solely responsible for compliance with the provisions
specified in this chapter.
