The Council hereby signifies its intention and desire to organize an
Authority under the provisions of the Municipality Authorities Act of 1945,
as amended.
The President of Borough Council and the Secretary thereof are hereby
authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the Borough of Shippensburg,
Articles of Incorporation for said Authority, in substantially the following
form.
The proper officers of the borough are hereby directed to cause a notice
of this chapter to be published one time in a newspaper published and of general
circulation in the County of Cumberland and one time in a newspaper published
and of general circulation in the County of Franklin as directed by the Act
of May 2, 1945, P.L. 382, as amended.
The President and Secretary of Borough Council are directed to file
said Articles of Incorporation, together with the necessary proof of publication,
with the Secretary of the commonwealth, and to do all other acts and things
necessary or appropriate to effect the incorporation of the Shippensburg Borough
Authority.

The project to be undertaken by the Authority is: to acquire, hold,
construct, improve, maintain, operate, own, lease either in the capacity of
lessor or lessee, sewers, sewer systems or parts thereof and sewage treatment
works, including works for treatment and disposing of industrial waste, for
the Borough of Shippensburg and for such other territory as it may be authorized
to serve. In addition, the Authority shall have as its purpose the acquisition,
holding, constructing, improvement, maintaining, operation, ownership, leasing
either in the capacity as lessor or lessee, of water systems, dams, wells,
distribution systems, water treatment plants, storage facilities for the
production, treatment and distribution of potable water in the Borough of
Shippensburg, Townships of Shippensburg, Southampton, and North Newton, Cumberland
County, and Townships of Southampton, Lurgan and Letterkenny, and Borough
of Orrstown, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
The following-named persons are hereby appointed as the first members
of the Board of the Authority, whose terms of office shall commence on the
date of appointment and shall be computed from January 1, 1951:
