All firefighters and police officers within the meaning of § 59-16 of this chapter shall retire from their respective divisions upon reaching the age of 65 years.
All firefighters and police officers who have
reached the age of 65 years or over within 60 days of final passage
of this article[1] shall be placed upon the retirement rolls and shall receive the retirement pay to which they are entitled under Article II of this chapter. Thereafter, all firefighters and police officers shall be retired upon reaching the age of 65 years and shall receive a retirement pay to which they are entitled under Article II of this chapter.
