Pursuant to RIGL § 23-27.3-100.1.1(4) building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical fees are set by the Rhode Island Building Code Commissioner.

The following flat fees and other fees shall be charged:

Any person, firm, corporation or other entity who erects, enlarges or alters a structure, or installs or alters any equipment. the installation of which is regulated by an applicable code, without first obtaining a building permit or permits for plumbing, electrical and mechanical from the City, or who removes or destroys without authority a cease and desist or stop work order. shall be subject to punishment as provided in § 202-2. The responsibility for paying the fines or penalties shall rest with the owner of the real estate. These fines or penalties are in addition to such other remedies as the City may have.
A.
Any person found in violation of the provisions of this section shall have the right to appeal to the municipal court any finding of violation or assessment of fines. fees or penalties within 15 days of issuance of citation thereof.

In the event of a failed inspection, a second inspection will be scheduled once the deficiencies addressed in the failed inspection are corrected. If the second inspection is failed a fee of $150 shall be charged for the necessary reinspection of the corrected work. The failed inspection fee shall be paid prior to the approval of the final reinspection.
