Borough of South River, NJ Chapter 116 Bingo

§ 116-1 Statutory provisions.

Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 5:8-24 et seq., games of chance, inclusive of bingo, are prohibited on Sunday unless provided for by ordinance to be adopted by the governing body.

§ 116-2 Legislative declaration.

Bingo is deemed to be a significant source of revenue to bona fide veterans, charitable, educational, religious or fraternal organizations, civic and service clubs, volunteer fire companies and first aid or rescue squads.

§ 116-3 Sunday bingo permitted.

Bingo shall be permitted within the Borough on Sunday of each week, not to commence earlier than 2:00 p.m., prevailing time.

§ 116-4 Regulation of applications and licenses.

All applications and licenses to hold Sunday bingo shall be subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 5:8-1 et seq. and to the rules and regulations issued or to be promulgated by the Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission in the Department of State of the State of New Jersey, and to laws, rules and regulations hereinafter enacted by the governing body.
