Where tangible personal property comes into the possession of the Police Department by finding or recovery, and if the owner or his whereabouts is unknown and cannot be ascertained or if said owner shall refuse to receive such property, then said property shall not be disposed of for six months, except in case of motor vehicles, which shall be for three months. In any such case the governing body of said municipality, by resolution, may then provide for the sale, in whole or in part, of any such property, at public auction after notice of a designated time and place therefor, not less than 10 days prior thereto published in a newspaper circulating within the Township. Perishable items may be sold without reference to said periods of time. Moneys received from the sale of any such property shall be paid into the general Township treasury. All unclaimed money coming into possession of the Police Department shall be turned over within 24 hours to the Township Treasurer for deposit into the general Township treasury.
A. 
Every member of the Police Department shall provide for himself the necessary police uniforms, which shall comply with standards and specifications prescribed from time to time by the Township Committee and shall at all times maintain his uniforms in a neat, clean and presentable condition.

B. 
The Township shall reimburse to each member of the Police Department the amount expended by him each year in and about the procurement of the required uniforms within the allowance specified by the Township Committee for that purpose.
C. 
Each member of the Police Department, while on duty, shall wear the prescribed uniform, except when assigned to plainclothes duty.

Women meeting the requirements set forth in this Part 1 with respect to eligibility and qualifications may be appointed to any office in the Police Department.
Pronouns used in this Part 1 denoting masculine gender shall also denote feminine gender.

The Township Committee is the appropriate authority having full power and authority, in its sole discretion, to amend or supplement this Part 1 and to establish rules and regulations for the operation and government of the Police Department and the special police officers, to repeal any part or parts of this Part 1 and to repeal or amend or supplement any one or more of said rules and regulations and to repeal this Part 1 in its entirety.
A. 
Each member of the Department shall submit to a medical examination by one of the physicians designated by the Township Committee once per year at Township expense. Failure to do so may result in appropriate disciplinary action. A medical doctor authorized to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Township Committee. The Police Physician shall examine all members of the police force or appointees to the force whenever required by this Part 1 or the rules and regulations as promulgated by the Township Committee and shall report, in writing, the results of such examinations, with his opinion as to physical fitness for police work of the person examined.
B. 
Every member of the West Amwell Township Police Department must maintain himself in proper physical condition and good appearance at all times. The Township Committee may require any member of the Police Department to be examined by the Police Physician when, in the opinion of said Township Committee, such member gives evidence that he is unable to perform properly the duties of his position. Nothing herein contained shall prevent such a member from submitting supplemental evidence of its condition to be supplied by a physician of his own selection, in addition to that required by the Committee as above mentioned.

C. 
Recommendations of the Police Physician for corrective measures of physical deficiencies interfering with the duties of a member of the Township Police Department shall be followed by such member, subject to the approval of the member's personal physician.
