A Department of Development is hereby established
to coordinate and carry out the directives and policies of planning,
urban renewal, housing, improvement of the Central Business District,
industrial development and related functions as established by the
Planning Commission, the Industrial Development Commission, the Housing
Authority, the Urban Renewal Agency and the Urban Development Corporation
and their successors and any other board, commission, agency or function
designated by the Mayor or City Council.
The Department of Development and all of the
activities of said Department shall be under the general supervision
of a Director of Development. He may appoint such deputies and other
employees as authorized to do so by the Mayor, the City Council or
responsible agencies. The Director of Development and any deputies
responsible to him shall be appointed for a term of office not to
exceed the term of the Mayor.
