As used in this chapter, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
CLASS A MASTER PLUMBER
A person approved by the Plumbing Board of Examiners to be
engaged in, or holding themselves out to the general public as being
in the business of contracting to install, extend, or alter plumbing
for the utilization of water and sewer systems, liquid or gas piping
systems, and fuel storage tanks.
CLASS B LICENSE
A license approved and issued by the Plumbing Board of Examiners
to an out-of-town licensed plumber to do work at a single location
or work site within the City.
INACTIVE MASTER PLUMBER
An inactive master plumber is a licensed master plumber who
is not participating in the trade and will not be performing any plumbing
work in the City but wishes to maintain his or her Class A license.
PLUMBING INSPECTOR
The individual holding a valid master plumber's license from
the City of Amsterdam, from the competitive class of the Civil Service,
approved by the Common Council, and appointed by the Supervisor of
Code Enforcement who shall serve as the Plumbing Inspector for the
City of Amsterdam.

PLUMBING PERMIT
The permit as required herein and issued by the City of Amsterdam
Plumbing Inspector for the installation, repair, or alterations of
plumbing fixtures and/or systems.
A domestic corporation desiring to conduct business
in plumbing within the City of Amsterdam, as employing, or master
plumber, may do so provided one or more of the officers of such corporation
separately or aggregately hold and own at least 51% of the issued
and outstanding capital stock of said corporation, and provided that
each of such officers holding such percentage of the stock is the
holder of a master plumber's license from the Plumbing Board of Examiners
as provided in this chapter, who shall be responsible for all work
performed by said corporation.

Any person desiring to obtain a license as herein
provided for shall make an application to the Plumbing Board of Examiners
at the Supervisor of Code Enforcement's office. Such application shall
state the class of license applied for, the name, address, and phone
number of the applicant and their place of business, and resume outlining
training and experience as required by the Board. The Supervisor of
Code Enforcement's office shall, within 10 days after receipt of any
such application for a license, accompanied by the proper fee, deliver
such application to the secretary of the Plumbing Board of Examiners.
Upon successful passing of the examination given by the Plumbing Board
of Examiners, providing their certificate of insurance, workmen's
compensation documentation per § 125 of the General Municipal
Law, and payment of fees, said Board shall issue a license to the
applicant as provided in this chapter.

A. Each applicant, upon approval by said Board and before
issuance of any license or permit, or the commencement of such work,
shall furnish and file with the Supervisor of Code Enforcement's office
a copy of his or her certificate of insurance which names the City
of Amsterdam as additionally insured in amounts not less than $500,000
combined bodily injury and property damage per occurrence, and with
a $1,000,000 annual aggregate, in coverage for the above damages and
losses, which may result from the work of said master plumber being
done carelessly, imperfectly, in a negligent manner, or in such a
way that injury or loss results therefrom or by reason of such master
plumber's failure or failure on the part of any employee to comply
with any or all of the laws of the State of New York, the ordinances
of the City of Amsterdam relating to plumbing installation, repair,
extension, or alteration work being performed in the City, and of
the rules and regulations of the Plumbing Board of Examiners of the
City in existence, or which may be thereafter adopted and to indemnify
and save harmless private individuals from all damage or loss of any
nature which may be caused to them by the contractor's or their employee's
failure to obey all the aforesaid laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
Such insurance shall be issued for a period for which the license
is in force.
B. Each applicant, upon approval by said Board and before
the issuance of any license or permit or the commencement of such
work, shall furnish and file with the Supervisor of Code Enforcement's
office a copy of their workmen's compensation documentation as required
per § 125 of the General Municipal Law, and such certificate
shall be issued for a period for which the license is in force.
No license granted under this chapter shall
be transferable, and no such license shall be used for the interests
of any unlicensed plumber under penalty of revocation of such license
by the Plumbing Board of Examiners.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this Article
V shall be guilty of a violation punishable by a fine of not more than $500, and/or revocation of his or her license by the Board of Examiners.
