[Adopted 10-10-1983]
The office designations of Zoning Administrator, Enforcement Officer of the Multiple Housing Law, Public Assembly Officer, Fire Code Inspector and Wetlands and Floodplains Inspector are hereby abolished, and there is hereby established and designated in the Town of Chautauqua an officer to be known as the "Code Enforcement Officer," who shall be appointed by the Town Board for a term to be fixed by said Board and at a compensation to be fixed by said Board.
The Code Enforcement Officer or his designee shall have all the power and authority vested in each of the above-named offices, shall enforce and administer the provisions of Chapter 143, Zoning, and Chapter 62, Buildings, Unsafe, of the Code of the Town of Chautauqua, the Multiple Housing Law, the Public Assembly Law and Chapter 74, Fire Prevention and Building Construction, and Chapter 78, Flood Damage Prevention, of the Code of the Town of Chautauqua and shall have such other power and authority as provided by Town Law or as shall be provided by the Town Board.
There is hereby established and designated in the Town of Chautauqua the office of Deputy Code Enforcement Officer, which officer shall be appointed by the Town Board as the need may appear, to act under the supervision of the Code Enforcement Officer and to exercise all or any portion of his powers and duties. The compensation of such Deputy Code Enforcement Officer shall be fixed by the Town Board.[1]
