This article shall be known as the "Town of
Brookhaven Office of the Town Council Law."
Nothing herein contained shall be construed
to delegate or transfer any power of the Town Supervisor contained
in §§ 29, 52 and 125 of the Town Law of the State of
New York or any other powers which may be lawfully exercised by said
Supervisor.

A. A member of the Town Council's term of office, as elected by a majority
of the Town of Brookhaven voters within each respective ward, shall
be for four years until the next required election date.
B. A member of the Town Council may serve up to three four-year terms
regardless of whether said terms are served consecutively or nonconsecutively.

If any section, provision or part thereof in
this article shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional by a court
of competent jurisdiction, such adjudication shall not affect the
validity of the article as a whole or any section, provision or part
hereof not as adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.
