Driveways between and around lumber piles shall be
at least 15 feet wide and maintained free from accumulation of rubbish,
equipment or other articles or materials. Driveways shall be so spaced
that a maximum grid system unit of 50 feet by 150 feet is produced.
Permanent lumber storage, operating under a permit,
shall be surrounded with a suitable fence at least six feet high,
unless storage is within a building.
The burning of shavings, sawdust and refuse material
shall be permitted only under boilers, in furnaces or in incinerators
or refuse burners safely constructed and located. Stacks shall be
provided with approved spark arresters having openings not greater
than 3/4 inch or other effective means provided which will eliminate
the danger from sparks, such as an expansion chamber, baffle walls
or other effective arrangement. At boiler or other points where sawdust
or shavings are used as fuel, a storage bin of noncombustible construction
with raised sill shall be provided.
Smoking shall be prohibited except in specified safe
locations in buildings. Large "No Smoking" signs shall be painted
on exterior building walls and on signs erected at driveway edges.
"No Smoking" signs shall be posted throughout all buildings except
in specific locations designated as safe for smoking purposes.
