There shall be a Board of Assistance of the
Borough composed of three members appointed by the Mayor with the
advice and consent of the Council. One member of the Board shall serve
for a term of one year and he may be a member of the Borough Council.
At least one of the three members of the Board shall be a woman. Two
members shall serve for terms of two years each, except that of those
latter two first appointed, one shall be appointed to serve for one
year and one for two years. They shall serve without compensation.
The Board of Assistance shall have such powers and perform such duties
as are prescribed by general law and ordinance and shall appoint a
Director of Welfare pursuant to state law.
