As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
- BOARDING HOME FOR CHILDREN
- Any house or establishment where children are boarded or cared for, whether for one day or longer, by or under the supervision of persons not close relatives of the children, for compensation or as a business.
No person shall conduct or maintain a boarding home for children without first obtaining a license from the Board of Health.
An application for a license shall be in writing and contain a full description of the premises and buildings intended to be used for such purposes, the age, qualifications and training of the person in charge and satisfactory proof that each person residing in the licensed premises or otherwise employed is free from communicable disease.
The license shall state the name of the licensee, location of the licensed premises and the maximum number of children that may be maintained, boarded or cared for at any time.
Boarding homes for children shall comply with all provisions of Chapter VI of the New Jersey State Sanitary Code.
Any person who violates or neglects to comply with any provision of this chapter or notice issued pursuant thereto shall, upon conviction thereof, be liable to a penalty of not less than $5 nor more than $500 for each violation.
