A. 
Pursuant to § 22.1-57.2 of the Code of Virginia, a referendum was held in the County of Rappahannock, Virginia, on November 3, 1992, at which a majority of the qualified voters of the county voted to change the method of selecting School Board members from appointment by the Board of Supervisors to popular election.
B. 
As authorized by said referendum and § 22.1-57.3 of the Code of Virginia, on the date of the next regular general election at which members of the governing body shall be elected in November 1995, the first election of members of the School Board shall be held. All five (5) members of the School Board shall be elected at that time.
The School Board shall consist of five members, one from each of the five existing election districts of Rappahannock County established for the election of the governing body.[1]

Each member of the School Board shall serve for a term of four years, except that two members shall be elected in November 2007 each to serve a two-year term beginning January 1, 2008, so as to establish staggered terms of office as provided by Chapter 16 of this Code. The term of office shall commence on January 1 following the date of the member's election.
Election of members of the School Board shall be held to coincide with the election of members of the governing body.
