In order to insure prompt public and emergency
service, each dwelling unit and business structure in the Town of
Dewey Beach shall be numbered according to the numbering system established
by the United States Postal Service.
Each building in the Town shall prominently
display its assigned number so that it is visible from the street.
Buildings having incorrect numbers are hereby
declared to be a hazard and a danger to public safety. Such incorrect
numbers may be removed or covered by designated Town employees 30
days after written notification of the owner.

Any owner or tenant of a building in the Town displaying a house or building number other than the assigned number 30 days after written notification thereof shall have committed a civil offense pursuant to Chapter
80 of the Municipal Code of the Town of Dewey Beach.

The Sussex County Addressing Department will recommend to the
Town standards for naming roadways, posting street signs and assigning
numbers to all dwellings, principal buildings, businesses and industries,
to assist emergency service agencies, the United States Postal Service
and the public in the timely and efficient provision of services to
residents and businesses of the Town of Dewey Beach.
