After the date that a public sewer becomes available to a property,
it shall be unlawful to construct, replace, repair or maintain any septic
disposal system or other facilities intended or used for the disposal of sewage
on such property.
Any septic tanks, cesspools, and similar private sewage disposal facilities
shall thereafter be promptly abandoned, pumped out, and filled with suitable
material, so as not to create a hazard to the public health and safety, except
that the private disposal system, after being pumped out, may be used for
the purpose of cellar drainage and surface drainage if the facility is in
suitable condition for such use.
Nothing contained in this article shall be construed to affect any additional
requirements that may be imposed by the health ordinances of the Town.
