The following words and phrases shall have the following meanings:
ALUMINUM
All aluminum beverage containers.
BATTERIES
Household batteries from toys, appliances, watches and other small items.

BIMETAL CANS
Examples include pet food cans.

GLASS
All glass bottles and jars.
HIGH-GRADE PAPERS
Computer printouts, computer tabular cards, white ledger and colored ledger.

LOW-GRADE PAPERS
Newspaper, corrugated, magazines and cardboard.

PLASTIC
All plastic bottles.

PROFESSIONAL OFFICES AND COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES
All professional offices and all other offices and buildings operated for business and/or commercial purposes located in the Township of Bridgewater.
RESIDENTIAL DWELLING OR STRUCTURE
All single-family and two-family dwellings or structures in the Township of Bridgewater, including townhouses and condominiums.
TEXTILES
Any old clean clothing, drapes, curtains sheets, towels, belts, handbags and any clean cloth no smaller than 15 inches by 15 inches.

TIN-PLATED STEEL CANS
Examples include soup cans and vegetable cans.

There is hereby established a program for the mandatory separation of newspapers, magazines, glass, aluminum, plastic, bimetal cans, batteries (household), corrugated cardboard, tin-plated steel cans, textiles and junk mail within the Township of Bridgewater.

The occupant or owner of any residential dwelling or structure within the Township of Bridgewater who shall place for disposal, removal or collection the following named items shall do so in strict conformity with the following regulations:
A. 
Newspapers, including inserts, shall be bundled separately and secured in bundles not to exceed 35 pounds. Bundle and tie the newsprint with string or cord. Newspaper shall not be contained in paper or plastic bags.
B. 
Junk mail, envelopes (no cellophane windows), magazines, catalogs, phone books, paperback books and brown grocery bags may be placed in a brown paper bag.
C. 
Glass, aluminum, tin-plated steel cans and bimetal cans (cans must be rinsed clean, with labels removed) shall be contained in a Somerset County issued recycling container.
D. 
Corrugated cardboard shall be reduced to twenty-four-inch squares or smaller bundles and tied together with string or cord.
E. 
Plastic bottles shall be contained in a Somerset County issued recycling container.
F. 
Batteries shall be contained in a zip-top plastic bag.
G. 
Textiles should be packaged in the recycling bag issued by Somerset County.

The owner, operator or occupant of any commercial, professional, industrial or institutional establishment shall recycle material as required under the Somerset County Recycling Amendment of December 1985 and P.L. 1987, c. 102,[1] including but not limited to:
A. 
Glass.
B. 
Newspapers and magazines.
C. 
Aluminum cans.
D. 
Low-grade papers.
E. 
High-grade papers.
F. 
Motor oil.
G. 
Plastic bottles.
H. 
Corrugated cardboard.

A. 
The collection, removal and disposal of magazines, bimetal cans, tin-plated steel cans, plastic bottles, household batteries, newspapers, glass, aluminum, textiles and junk mail shall be supervised by the Administrator of the Township of Bridgewater or his/her designated agent, who shall have the authority to promulgate regulations establishing the time, method and routes of services. Homeowners' associations, condominium associations and managers of multifamily dwellings or developments shall provide for collection in accordance with the regulations established by the Administrator of the Township of Bridgewater. The owner, landlord or manager of any office or commercial building shall provide for collection in accordance with the regulations established by the Administrator of the Township of Bridgewater.

B. 
The Township Council, by resolution, may enter into contracts and may make any arrangements deemed in the public interest for collection of recyclable materials.
C. 
All recycling containers shall be supplied by the Somerset County Recycling Office and placed prior to collection between the curb and sidewalk, where they shall be readily accessible to the collector. The recycling container, paper bags and newspapers to be disposed of shall be placed outside after 6:00 p.m. of the day immediately preceding the day of collection, but not later than 7:00 a.m. on the date of collection.

Any person, firm or corporation that violates or neglects to comply with any provision of this chapter or any regulation promulgated pursuant thereto shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable by a fine not to exceed $500 or imprisonment for a term of not more than 90 days, or both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the court.
In the event that any section, sentence or clause of this chapter shall be declared unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, such declaration shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions.

Inspections of all commercial, professional, industrial and institutional establishments will be conducted twice a year by the Recycling Coordinator. The manner and extent of compliance will be identified on a preprinted checklist.
