This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "City of Auburn
Drain Layers Licensing Ordinance."
The purpose of this chapter is to protect the public health, safety
and welfare and in particular the sanitary sewer system, the storm sewer system
and the potable water main system of the City of Auburn by requiring the installation
of laterals by competent drain layers.

A. Upon presenting the certificate of competency to the
Director of Municipal Utilities, the Director of Municipal Utilities shall
issue a drain layer's license for a one-year term upon payment of an
initial fee of $100.
B. Renewals shall be made at least 30 days but not more than 60 days before expiration of the license. Unless the Director of Municipal Utilities has revoked or suspended the license pursuant to Chapter
200, Licensing, of this Municipal Code or the Director of Municipal Utilities requires the licensee to submit to re-examination, a license may be renewed for another year and for each successive year upon payment of a yearly renewal fee of $100.
Any person, other than a licensed plumber of the City of Auburn, who shall engage in the business of drain layer without a license as herein provided shall be punishable as provided in Chapter
1, §
1-18 of this Municipal Code.
