A.
The Examining Board of Plumbers of the City of Auburn shall examine applicants desiring to be licensed as drain layers as to experience and qualifications for such trade, business or calling. Such examination shall be in writing and reasonably related to the knowledge and procedures in installing laterals to the sanitary sewer system, the storm sewer system and the potable water main system, and in particular with Chapter 297, Water Service, and Chapter 242, Sanitary Sewers, of the Municipal Code of the City of Auburn. At the time of application for examination the applicant shall pay the fee established in § 164-6C(2).
[Amended 7-21-2005 by Ord. No. 10-2005]
B.
Upon successfully completing the examination, the Examining Board of Plumbers of the City of Auburn shall issue a certificate of competency which shall entitle the holder thereof to a drain layer's license as hereinafter provided.
[Amended 7-21-2005 by Ord. No. 10-2005]
A.
Upon presenting the certificate of competency to the Director of Municipal Utilities, the Director of Municipal Utilities shall issue a drain layer's license for a one-year term upon payment of an initial fee of $100.

Renewals shall be made at least 30 days but not more than 60 days before expiration of the license. Unless the Director of Municipal Utilities has revoked or suspended the license pursuant to Chapter 200, Licensing, of this Municipal Code or the Director of Municipal Utilities requires the licensee to submit to re-examination, a license may be renewed for another year and for each successive year upon payment of a yearly renewal fee of $100.
Any person, other than a licensed plumber of the City of Auburn, who shall engage in the business of drain layer without a license as herein provided shall be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, § 1-18 of this Municipal Code.
