[HISTORY: Adopted by the Township Council of the Township of Medford 7-6-1981 by Ord. No. 1981-17. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The regulations concerning maintenance of hotels and multiple dwellings promulgated and issued by the Commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs under the authority of the New Jersey Hotel and Multiple Dwelling Act, N.J.S.A. 55:13A-1 et seq., and currently cited as N.J.A.C. 5:10-1 et seq., are hereby adopted by reference, and all of said regulations, as the same are now or as they may hereafter be amended by the Commissioner, are made a part of this chapter as if more specifically set forth herein. Three copies of the current regulations shall be maintained by the Township Clerk and one copy by the Township Uniform Construction Code Official with this chapter upon introduction and, if adopted, at all times thereafter, and shall be available for public inspection and use during regular Township business hours.
It is the intent and purpose of the Township Council in adopting said regulations by ordinance to assist in the prompt and proper inspection and enforcement of said regulations for the benefit, health, safety and welfare of the Township residents residing in multiple dwellings within the Township, and nothing herein shall be deemed to accept on behalf of the Township the primary responsibility for said inspection and enforcement, the Township acknowledging and requesting the continued primary enforcement and inspection responsibility by the State of New Jersey, Bureau of Housing Inspections, pursuant to the Multiple Dwelling Act.
Any person, firm, corporation or other entity convicted of a violation of this chapter or any section thereof, being the regulations adopted herein by reference, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $500 or a term of imprisonment not to exceed 90 days, or both, in the discretion of the sentencing court.
