In accordance with the provisions of MGL c.
40, § 8B, a Council on Aging is hereby established to consist
of a minimum of 11, and a maximum of 15, citizens and a maximum of
two alternate members of said Council, all of whom shall be appointed
upon recommendation of the Town Manager and ratification by the Select
Board in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 137 of the Acts
of 1995, Section 4. Said alternate members may attend Council on Aging
meetings and shall be allowed to speak but not to vote except in the
absence of a quorum of the regular members of the Council on Aging.
The Council on Aging is established for the
purpose of coordinating or carrying our programs designed to meet
the needs of the aging pursuant to the provisions of MGL c. 40, § 8B.
Initially, 1/3 of the membership of said Council
shall be appointed for a term of one year. Thereafter, all appointments
shall be for terms of three years.
