Pursuant to P.L. 1990, Chapter 105,[1] there is hereby established a service charge for checks or other written instruments tendered to the Township which are returned for insufficient funds.

Whenever payment on an account owing to the Township is tendered by check or other written instrument which is returned for insufficient funds, there shall be a service charge of $20 collected and added to the amount due and owing on the account.
Whenever an account owing to the Township is for a tax or special assessment, the service charge authorized by this chapter shall be included on the list of delinquent accounts prepared for the enforcement of the lien.
Unless waived by the Chief Financial Officer, all future payments on the account owing to the Township for which a check or other written instrument was returned due to insufficient funds shall be tendered in cash or by certified or cashier's check.
