The water supply of any water district or improvement
district shall always be distributed through piping systems entirely
independent of any piping system conveying another water supply, unless
the method of distribution conforms to the rules and regulations of
the water improvement district supplying water to the particular premises.

Accessible backflow preventer valves/check valves
for cross-connection control in potable water distribution systems
and shutoff valves which shall separately control the water supply
shall be provided for each flat or apartment of a building or dwelling,
for each lawn sprinkler, for each hot water tank and for each water
closet.

A brass or bronze relief valve shall be provided
on each hot water tank or heated unit or on the hot water main adjacent
to the tank. Installation of relief valves shall be compatible with
the manufacturer's approved ratings. Relief valve discharge piping
shall be installed to an approved location.
