[Adopted 3-19-2002 by Ord. No. 760-02]
This article is adopted under authority granted by § 303.08, Wis. Stats.
This article shall be known as the "Green Lake County Huber Law Ordinance."
Green Lake County operates a portion of its jail utilizing Huber Law (work release) provisions and does have a number of inmates incarcerated under said law from time to time. The Green Lake County Board of Supervisors recognizes that inmates who are gainfully employed under the provisions of the Huber Law have an obligation to pay their own way as much as possible while incarcerated in the Green Lake County Jail.
A.
All inmates employed full time under Huber Law work release provisions from the Green Lake County Jail shall be required to pay a charge of $13.25 per day, plus state and County sales tax, for room and board, computed on a seven-day-week basis.
B.
The daily charge includes meals, whether the Huber Law inmate takes his/her meals at the jail or elsewhere. Sack lunches will be provided as appropriate and requested.
A.
Huber Law inmates shall not be permitted to hold more than one job.
B.
Part-time jobs are not permitted.
C.
A minimum of 32 hours per week (Sunday through Saturday) are required to be considered as full-time employment.
D.
Huber fees can be paid in advance of the work release, provided that they are paid in full for the duration of the sentence prior to the commencement of the first day of work. In lieu of that, the appropriate daily charge shall be paid to or collected by the designated official(s) of the Green Lake County Sheriff's Department from each paycheck as received by the working inmate on the day of receipt of such paycheck. Paychecks shall be mailed or delivered to the Green Lake County Sheriff's Department by the employer.
E.
The responsible official from the Sheriff's Department shall, in turn, remit the moneys so collected to the County Treasurer at the end of each month in which the fees were collected. A report of these moneys, along with all other collections made by the Sheriff's Department, shall be made each month to the Judicial/Law Enforcement and Emergency Management Committee at its regular meeting.
