A Planning Commission is hereby recognized and
reestablished for the Township of Hellam.

The Planning Commission shall consist of seven
members, all appointed by the Board of Supervisors of Hellam Township,
and all of whom shall serve four-year terms.

The Planning Commission membership shall be
increased from a total of five members to a total of seven members.
The Board of Supervisors shall appoint two new members to join the
current five members of the Planning Commission as soon as qualified
candidates are available. Nothing herein shall affect the tenure of
any of the current five members of the Planning Commission, whose
terms shall continue as set forth in prior ordinances.
The purpose of the Planning Commission shall
be to perform the duties and exercise the powers conferred by law
upon municipal planning commissions set forth in Section 209.1 of
the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, and any successor legislation, as may be amended from
time to time.
The members of the Planning Commission shall
elect their own Chairman and Vice Chairman, and create and fill such
other offices as it may determine. The Commission shall conduct business
as set forth in Section 207 of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning
Code, and any successor legislation, as may be amended from
time to time.

Any member of a Planning Commission once qualified
and appointed may be removed from office for malfeasance, misfeasance
or nonfeasance in office or for other just cause by a majority vote
of the Board of Supervisors taken after the member has received 15
days' advance notice of the intent to take such a vote. A hearing
shall be held in connection with the vote if the member shall request
it in writing. Any appointment to fill a vacancy created by removal
shall be only for the unexpired term.
