The Mayor and Council of the City of College Park, in consultation with the General Code Publishers Corporation, has been engaged in recodification of the City's Code by way of the passage of numerous Charter changes and ordinances amending, revising, reorganizing and reformatting the City's Charter and ordinances, enumerated as follows:

This effort has culminated in the publication of an amended, revised, reorganized and reformatted Code of the City of College Park, Maryland, by the General Code Publishers Corporation, hereinafter referred to as the "Code," which incorporates all of the above-noted Charter resolutions and ordinance changes, including all Charter changes adopted by the City of College Park through August 14, 1991, and all ordinances adopted by the City of College Park through September 10, 1991.
The Charter and Parts I and II of the Code of the City of College Park, 1991, published by the General Code Publishers Corporation, of Rochester, New York, are hereby adopted as the official Code of the City of College Park, hereinafter referred to as the "Code"; provided, however, that upon introduction of this proposed ordinance, the City Clerk shall distribute a copy of the same to each Council member and shall publish this proposed ordinance in a newspaper having a general circulation in Prince George's County and in the City newsletter, together with a notice setting out the time and place for a public hearing hereon and for its consideration by the Council. The public hearing, hereby set for the ninth day of December 1991, shall follow the publication by at least seven days, may be held separately or in connection with a regular or special Council meeting and may be adjourned from time to time. All persons interested shall have an opportunity to be heard. After the hearing, the Council may adopt the proposed ordinance with or without amendments or reject it, but if it is amended as to any matter of substance, the Council may not adopt it until the ordinance or its amended sections have been subjected to all the procedures herein required in the case of a newly introduced ordinance. Except as otherwise provided, every ordinance adopted shall become effective at the expiration of 20 days after it is adopted or at any later date specified therein.

Except as otherwise required by law, any public notice required by the City Charter shall be given by posting at City Hall, to the official City website, to the City-maintained e-mail LISTSERV, and on the City cable channel, and publishing in any City newsletter.
