No itinerant show or exhibition shall be exhibited within the corporate limits of Leonardtown unless and until a permit has been obtained from the Commissioners of Leonardtown,[1] and no vulgar, indecent or immoral show or exhibition, whether itinerant or otherwise, shall be staged within said corporate limits, notwithstanding a permit may have been issued.

Applications for permits shall be filed with the Treasurer of the Town of Leonardtown, and the fee for the issuance of all such licenses or permits shall be as set forth from time to time by the Mayor and Council, and the same shall be paid at the issuance of the license or permit.
Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not less than $25 and costs nor more than $100 and costs, and, in default of fine, the party or parties convicted shall be imprisoned in the St. Mary's County jail for a term not exceeding 30 days or until discharged in due course of law, and provided further that the Bailiff of Leonardtown is hereby authorized and empowered to prevent any performance from being staged until the above provisions have been complied with.
It is further provided that the Commissioners of Leonardtown may revoke any permits or licenses issued if the show or exhibition is deemed vulgar, indecent or immoral, and the same penalty shall be applicable for any subsequent performance of said vulgar, indecent or immoral shows or exhibitions as is herein provided for performances staged without a permit or license, and said Bailiff is authorized and empowered to prevent any such subsequent performances.
