No fence of any type shall be erected that exceeds 6
feet in height. No barbed wire, electrical or other dangerous types of fencing
shall be erected in the town.
Fences not exceeding 6 feet in height, whether they be
constructed of woven wire fabric, masonry, wood, etc., and used for purposes
of enclosures and/or privacy shall be permitted upon acquisition of a permit
for construction of such and with exceptions as may be ordained herein.
No fence that exceeds 48 inches in height above ground
level of said property shall be erected along a side property line and/or
front property line within 25 feet of any street right-of-way when said property
is an interior lot, and, where said property is a corner lot, no fence exceeding
48 inches in height above ground level of said property shall be erected along
such side property lines that adjoins any street right-of-way, and, further,
where said property is a corner lot and the rear property line and side property
line intersect adjoining any street right-of-way, no fence that exceeds 48
inches in height shall be erected along the rear property line within 25 feet
of street right-of-way.
The requirements of this chapter and the enforcement
thereof shall not be construed to be effective upon such fences as may have
been erected prior to passage of this chapter, until such time as existing
fences are and/or may be required to be repaired (excepting painting, staining,
etc.), altered, replaced, relocated, etc.
