The Chief of Police shall be charged with the responsibility for:
A. 
The prevention of crime; enforcement of all laws and ordinances; preservation of public peace; protection of life and property; arrest and prosecution of law violators; and professional adherence to Police Department rules and regulations.
B. 
The supervision of Police Department members and the effective administration of the Town of Cornwall Police Department.
C. 
The performance of all duties as described in the Chief of Police job description as set forth by the Town of Cornwall Board in compliance with the Orange County Civil Service Law and Town Law of the State of New York.
D. 
Knowing and conforming to federal, state and local laws and general orders, policies, procedures, directives and the rules of conduct governing the Town of Cornwall Police Department.
E. 
Adherence to federal, state and local laws and general orders, policies, procedures, directives and the rules of conduct governing the Town of Cornwall Police Department by subordinate Police Department personnel.
F. 
The performance of any lawful order or duty as directed by the Town of Cornwall Board.
The Police Sergeant shall be charged with the responsibility for:
A. 
The prevention of crime; enforcement of all laws and ordinances; preservation of public peace; protection of life and property; arrest and prosecution of law violators; and professional adherence to Police Department rules and regulations.
B. 
The supervision of subordinate Police Department personnel and the effective operation of the Town of Cornwall Police Department in compliance with departmental policy and as directed by the Chief of Police.
C. 
The performance of all duties as described in the Police Sergeant job description as set forth by the Town of Cornwall Board in compliance with the Orange County Civil Service Law and Town Law of the State of New York.
D. 
Knowing and conforming to federal, state and local laws and general orders, policies, procedures, directives and the rules of conduct governing the Town of Cornwall Police Department.
E. 
The adherence to federal, state and local laws and general orders, policies, procedures, directives and the rules of conduct governing the Town of Cornwall Police Department by subordinate Police Department personnel.
F. 
The performance of any lawful order or duty as directed by the Chief of Police.
Police officers of the Town of Cornwall Police Department shall be charged with the responsibility for:
A. 
The prevention of crime; enforcement of all laws and ordinances; preservation of public peace; protection of life and property; arrest and prosecution of law violators; and professional adherence to Police Department rules and regulations.
B. 
The performance of all duties as described in the police officer job description as set forth by the Town of Cornwall Board in compliance with the Orange County Civil Service Law and Town Law of the State of New York.
C. 
Knowing and conforming to federal, state and local laws and general orders, policies, procedures, directives and the rules of conduct governing the Town of Cornwall Police Department.
D. 
The adherence to federal, state and local laws and general orders, policies, procedures, directives and the rules of conduct governing the Town of Cornwall Police Department by all Police Department members.
E. 
The performance of any lawful order or duty as directed by a superior officer as set forth by the rules of conduct, § 41-5, Rule 1.05: Seniority.
