E911 identification numbers, assigned by the Office of the Receiver
of Taxes and administered by the Building Department, are assigned
to each residential and business location in the Town of Lewisboro
and must be displayed according to the rules and regulations set forth
below.
E911 building identification signs and driveway location signs
in business districts shall be placed according to a building identification
list maintained and monitored by the Building Inspector/Fire Inspector.
A. Building identification signs must meet the requirements of §
186-3A(1),
(2) and
(4) above. Where driveway location signs are required, they must meet the requirements of §
186-3A and
B above.
B. In addition to E911 building identification signs, owners of locations
having secondary entrances shall be required to identify those secondary
entrances with the name of the occupant in letters which are at least
one inch high.
C. In addition to the building identification signs, it shall be the
responsibility of each property owner within the business districts
to provide and display numbers identifying apartments at the exterior
access to such apartment locations and at the doors of the apartments
themselves.
D. All apartment location numbers shall be 2 1/2 inches high with
a minimum stroke width of 1/2 inch.
E. In addition to the E911 building location signs placed according
to the building identification list, building signs (listing tenants)
which are installed or refurbished subsequent to the passage of this
chapter shall display the E911 building number on the sign in a clearly
legible number style.
F. E911 identification signs in business districts shall not contribute to the total sign area allowable for business establishments in Chapter
185, Signs, §
185-5, of the Code of the Town of Lewisboro.
G. E911 identification signs shall be maintained in all-weather visible
condition by the property owner.
H. These requirements are automatically waived for all schools, parks,
churches and Town office buildings. In addition, the Cross River Shopping
Center, the North County Shopping Center, the Yellow Monkey Village
and the Oakridge Shopping Center are waived from the E911 identification
requirements.
Appeals for number relocation may be addressed to the Building Inspector. He may grant a waiver in compliance with §
186-8 below.
Compliance with the requirements of this chapter shall be mandatory
after September 1, 1993.
A property owner may apply to the Building Department for a
waiver from strict compliance with the requirements of this chapter.
The Building Inspector may grant the waiver only if, after referral
to the appropriate Fire Chief, a letter is received from the Fire
Chief indicating that the location of the E911 identification is satisfactory
to the Fire Chief.
