Pursuant to the provisions of the Act of July
31, 1968, No. 247 (53 P.S. § 10101 et seq.), and in order
to carry out the said provisions, there is here created in the Borough
of Steelton a Planning Commission, which shall be hereafter called
the "Planning Commission of the Borough of Steelton, Pennsylvania."
The said Planning Commission shall have all
the powers and duties conferred upon it by the Act of July 31, 1968,
No. 247, and any amendments thereto.
The Planning Commission shall consist of five
members, who shall be appointed by the Borough Council and shall serve
without compensation, except that they shall be reimbursed for expenses
incurred in carrying out their Commission duties.
The terms of the members of the Planning Commission
shall be as follows: two members shall have a one-year term; one member
shall have a two-year term; one member shall have a three-year term;
and one member shall have a four-year term. The terms of office of
the members shall commence on the date of the adoption of this chapter;
and annually thereafter when the term of any member expires, a new
member shall be appointed by the Council of the Borough of Steelton
for a term of four years, and members may succeed themselves.
In case a vacancy is created by resignation,
disability, death, removal of residence from the Borough or in any
other way, said vacancy shall be filled by the Borough Council for
the unexpired portion of the term of the member being replaced.
All members of the Planning Commission shall
be residents of the Borough of Steelton, Pennsylvania.
The Planning Commission shall keep a full record
of its business and shall annually make a written report, by March
1 of each year, of its activities to the governing body.
The Planning Commission shall prepare and maintain
a comprehensive plan for the development of the Borough of Steelton.
The Planning Commission shall perform all the
duties set forth in the above Act of Assembly, including but not limited
to the preparation of the text and map or maps of any and all Zoning
Ordinances.
The Planning Commission shall comply with all
the obligations and duties imposed by the above Act of Assembly.
All matters saved by the Act of July 31, 1968,
No. 247 are herewith adopted.
This chapter is enacted, ordained and passed
by the Council of the Borough of Steelton, County of Dauphin and Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania, to carry out the purposes of the Act of July 31,
1968, No. 247.
