The Valley Forge Sewer Authority is a municipal corporation
formed by the Townships of Charlestown, East Pikeland and Schuylkill
for the purpose of building and operating a wastewater collection
and treatment system. The policies of the Authority are enacted by
a six-member Board. This Board is comprised of two appointed representatives
from each of the incorporating municipalities (townships), who serve
five-year terms.
It is the policy of the Valley Forge Sewer Authority
to hire and maintain a workforce of capable and qualified individuals.
The selection of an individual for a particular position is based
upon the ability of the individual to meet the requirements of the
available job. These qualifications are determined by the means of
interviews, evaluations, employment tests, information on the application
form and personal references. All applicants will be judged solely
by their qualifications to accomplish the job for which they are applying.
All applicants are required to complete a written
application for employment and be interviewed by their prospective
supervisor(s) and the General Manager. Any false information given
on the application or in the interview may be cause for dismissal.
A written record will be made of the hiring process and kept in the
employee's personnel file.
The Authority will consider hiring members of current
employee's immediate family if qualified for the positions applied
for. Members of the same immediate family cannot supervise their relatives.
Relatives of employees who have access to confidential information
as a part of their job will not be considered for hiring.
The Authority may hire only American citizens and
aliens who are authorized to work in the United States. When an individual
is hired, he or she must present proof of citizenship or legal alien
status.
The Authority will not discriminate against any applicant
or employee because of race, sex, color, creed, national origin, age
or handicap. The Authority is an equal opportunity employer.
The Authority may, at its discretion, require prospective
applicants to undergo a physical examination prior to employment.
If a physical examination is required, the Authority will arrange
and pay for it.
