A. 
Whereas the Township, either through the Township office or the Tax Collector’s office, is often paid by way of check; and whereas, on occasion those checks either are drawn on closed accounts, accounts with insufficient funds or such problems that necessitate the check being returned or not honored initially by the bank; and whereas, the type of activity will result in a fee being assessed against the Township.
B. 
Now, therefore, the Township hereby imposes a fee per check being returned as set from time to time by resolution of the Board of Supervisors, commencing five days after the effective date of this article.
C. 
By further determination of the Township, this fee shall be amended, from time to time, by resolution, in the event the Township determines a need to change from the initially established fee.

These fees will be for any check to any Township body or organization for any purpose. The fee shall be deposited in the Township General Fund.

Should the fee for a returned check not be paid within 10 days from the receipt of notice assessing the fee, then the Township may file a civil suit against the individual to collect the fee. In addition, the individual or individuals not reimbursing the Township the return check charge shall be liable to the Township for any and all counsel fees and other costs associated with collection of the return check charge.
