§ A215-1 Early history.

The Town of Bethany was incorporated by a resolution adopted by the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut, passed in May 1832. It was split off from the Town of Woodbridge, and those records prior to 1832 remain in the custody and keeping of the Town Clerk of Woodbridge. The area of Bethany in 1832 was considerably greater than at present. Portions of what constituted Bethany at that time are now included as parts of the Towns of Naugatuck, Beacon Falls and Woodbridge.

§ A215-2 Enumeration of Special Acts.

On July 26, 1949, a Special Act was passed dissolving Regional High School District No. 2, which consisted of Cheshire, Prospect and Bethany and which had been organized in 1943. With the exception of this Act and two (2) Acts for the reimbursement for overpaid taxes in 1867 and 1872, all of the remaining special acts concerning Bethany involved its territorial boundaries and the location of its school districts.
