There is hereby created the Mayor's Office for Film and
Television.
The Commission shall consist of seven members: three members
to be appointed by the Mayor, two members to be appointed by City
Council, and two resident members to be appointed by the Commission.
The Mayor has full discretion to appoint a resident or nonresident
to the Commission. City Council may, by a two-thirds vote of its full
membership, appoint a nonresident to fill a position on the Commission.
All members shall serve without compensation.
All appointments, except newly filled vacancies and except with
regard to initial appointments, shall be made to take effect on January
1 of each year, for a full term of two years. Any vacancies occurring
by reason of death or by resignation shall be filled for the unexpired
term only.
The Commission shall utilize parliamentary procedures and establish
bylaws for the orderly conduct of its meetings. The Commission shall
organize and hold regular meetings on a schedule to be determined
by its bylaws.
The Commission shall have the following duties:
A. Recommend to the Mayor and City Council any and all projects which
the Commission has determined to be in the best interests of the City
of Atlantic City for the promotion of filmmaking, the promotion of
film programming in the public schools, the promotion of the history
of the City of Atlantic City, etc.
B. Recommend to the Mayor and City Council the operation of film festivals.
C. Recommend to the Mayor and City Council means by which funds may
be raised toward the Commission's major goal of promoting filmmaking
and the history of filmmaking in the City of Atlantic City.
D. Recommend to the Mayor and City Council means by which artifacts
and the heritage of the City of Atlantic City filmmaking may be preserved
and promoted.
E. Make findings upon, and recommendations to the Mayor and City Council
concerning, utilizing City resources to promote filmmaking and the
heritage of City of Atlantic City filmmaking.
F. Undertake any and all actions authorized by the Mayor and Council
with respect to the promotion of filmmaking, operation of film festivals,
the raising of funds and preservation of the heritage of City of Atlantic
City filmmaking.
G. To meet several times each year, as designated, and forward minutes
of its meetings to the Mayor and Council.
H. Any and all other and further duties and/or powers that may be delegated
by the Mayor and Council.
