The Department of Public Works shall be directed by the Director
of Public Works who shall be appointed by the Common Council for a
two year term which shall expire at the end of every even numbered
year.
The specific powers and duties of the Director of Public Works
shall include:
Direction and oversight in regard to construction, maintenance,
cleaning and repair of streets, highways, sidewalks, municipal buildings
and facilities, and parking lots, together with other public works
activities of the City.
Direction and oversight in regard to operation and maintenance
of water and sewer facilities, services, infrastructure and related
matters.
Installation and maintenance of traffic control signs and markings.
Construction and maintenance of public parks, play fields and
playground facilities and equipment.
Operation of any City garages, including maintenance of municipal
vehicles and equipment.
Oversight of all engineering and consulting engineer work performed
for the City.
Custody of all city maps and surveys.
