Planning and Zoning Commission — See Ch. 271.
Pursuant to the provisions of § 8-5 of the Connecticut General Statutes, there shall be a zoning board of appeals, to be known as "The Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Middlefield," consisting of five regular members and three alternate members.
The Zoning Board of Appeals shall be appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Each new regular member and alternate member shall be appointed for a term of five years.

Members of the Zoning Board of Appeals may be removed from office for cause by the Board of Selectmen. Before removal, charges shall be presented to such member in writing, and he shall be given reasonable opportunity to be heard in his own defense.
Any vacancy in the Zoning Board of Appeals, including any vacancy in the panel of alternates, shall be filled in accordance with Charter § 603.
